Being retired, I don't drink down a mug/cup of coffee within 30 minutes or less, anymore. I tend to dawdle with my coffee as I get lost in my current art project. Prior to receiving these absolutely gorgeous mugs, I would reach for and take a nice draft of my coffee, only to be shocked back to reality by its cold temperature. Now I have the opposite problem (a much, much better problem to have); my coffee is a within a degree or two of the temperature that it came out of the coffee maker. I need only to learn to leave the lid open for a few sort minutes. After my Beveridge is at a palletable temperature, by replacing the lid, I know that I will have a nice hot cup of"Joe" until the very last drop.You just can't go wrong with these stunningly beautiful mugs. I know that there are those tall, stainless steel tumblers that do the exact same thing as these mugs. The problem with these tumblers is that I am not interested in, nor do I want 30 ounces of hot coffee in my hand. These mugs just fill the bill perfectly! So now that you know what an awesome product they are go ahead and push the purchase button. Your husband will think that you truly are an angel the first time you present him with his morning coffee in one of these! They keep things warm a reasonable amount of time. The handle is easy for my 91 year old mother, who has a hand tremor, to grasp. I am worried about the lids though. The lids have a sliding piece that slides over the hole you drink from, and then retracts when you want to drink. That means there is a dark space inside, where the sliding piece retracts into in the lid that I cannot effectively clean that might provide a great home for mold- especially if it gets damp in there. You know, kind of like how rubber duckies, with their dark, damp space inside becomes a great home for mold? If the manufacturer happens to read this review- please tell me how I can keep the interior space of the lid clean so it will not grow mold and present a health hazard? Thanks! A couple weeks later: I did manage to pry the lids open to see if the space inside the lids was accumulating guck that wouldn't get cleaned unless you pryed open the lids. Yes- there was accumulated guck under the lid- I am imagining it is a bacterial stew I was exposing myself to each time I sipped through the lid. I tried cleaning under the lid and popping it back on- it didn't slide appropriately after I popped the lid back together. These are double walled stainless and insulated, but not vacuum insulated. I tested how well they kept water hot. I poured near boiling water into a ceramic mug of similar capacity, an Avito with cover, and an Avito without cover. After 40 minutes the water in the ceramic cup was 105F, the uncovered Avito was 128F, and the covered Avito was 164F. By the way, I left the drinking hole in the cover open.
