However, my bath is an old cast iron one and the enamel surface is no longer all that smooth, so this may be why. In any case, I did not find adherence of the suction cups to be important in practice, as, with my weight on the seat, they provided sufficient friction to prevent the seat from moving. Hence I have no issue with this and am completely happy with the product, which has made it possible for me to transfer into and out of the bath, and to bathe/shower safely and confidently despite being unable to weight bear on my left leg. Thoroughly recommend this product - and, more specifically, the option with the full set of leg extensions (allows hieght adjustment up to 12 inches) that I purchased, as the price difference is small and the flexibility of use well worth the extra cost in my opinion!
