If needed, you can take the end caps off of your old brushroll, and put them on the new one. I have both a 30+ year old Sanitaire and one that is just a few years old. They both have the same brushroll. I just pop the ends off the older one so a new brushroll would fit, as it was a slide in shape, not a hex shape. **Q: Does it fit sc886g?** A: In my view this shouldn't be advertised as "universal". I have 3 Eureka /Sanitaire uprights and it didn't fit any of them. Just a hair too long for any of them...even if "forced" into place...would not rotate.
