It feels like a basic, traditional toilet seat: not uncomfortable and not extra comfortable. I ordered it at 10pm and got it by 1pm the next day. (It was brand new, sometimes people complain about getting used ones.) FYI: It will clank when you open it and close VERY FAST when you lower it. UPDATE: I've used it for 6 months with NO problems. However, I think that urine can also harm the finish if it isn't cleaned off soon. 5) I thought of getting a plastic seat (instead of a heavy wooden one) as it might be easier to disinfect and more stain resistant, but the reviews on those were mixed. Some of those plastic seats were flimsy. In another model (an expensive one), users complained that after a few months that plastic toilet seat started to have a strong chemical smell. Just an fyi, I was reading an article that mentioned that toilet seats are shaped to encourage people to "do their business." Sitting on them for a long time when you don't need to have a bowel movement can be counterproductive and bad for your regularity. So, if you do have an extra comfortable seat, just be aware that you shouldn't hang out on it. If you're reading a novel, perhaps you should sit on the couch instead.

**Q: How to I install the seat?**
A: No instructions—written or visual. I have installed MANY toilet seats in my 68 years, but this is not like any other. Directions for dummies 101: in the plastic bag are two grey bolts and two black wing nuts. The toilet seat cover has the hinges attached. I popped the hinge caps off with a screw driver. Set aside. After removing the old set, put the two grey bolts through the holes in the toilet from the top. Underneath place the black wing nut on the bolt. I could not just screw the wing nut onto the bolt as the nut has a protruding piece which hit my toilet. So I held the wing nut in place keeping the protruding piece flush with the toilet and screwed the bolt with the screwdriver from the top of the bolt so it was snug—not too tight as with any plastic tightening too much will cause the plastic to break. With the hinge caps still off, set the cover over the top of the bolts. It should fit nicely. Place the hinge caps over and rotate to the locked position. It took no force to accomplish this part. Really simple and easy once you figure it out. Instructions would have been helpful.

**Q: How large is the  "hole"??  I presumed they are all standard, but the one I have now is smaller that before..**
A: Seat is 14 1/4 by 15 1/2.  Hole is 8 1/4 by 10 1/4.  Overall length fr the hinge holes to the front is 17".  Hope I didn't give you more than you ask for.

**Q: Will this fit a 16.6" X 14" round toilet?**
A: It fits the 14" wide but may be shy on the 16.6" , unless your measurement is from the screw holes to the front of the toilet. Then it would be fine.  My toilet is standard round, like most are unless you have a more commercial style one to fit it on.

**Q: What are the dimensions of the seat?**
A: 15" length (from front to back not including the tabs) and 14" width.

Okay, it's difficult to be thrilled by a toilet seat, but I really am with this one. It's very sturdy, stylish, elegant and well-priced. The quality is great and I love the fact that you can sit on the lid without fear of it buckling. I'm a small woman, but the last toilet seat I bought was plastic and every time I'd sit on the lid, I felt like it might buckle or crack. Not this one! It's stable, strong, durable and easy to keep clean. Best I've ever bought! Also, it was very easy for me to install.
