I could not figure out why my blonde hair kept turning a muddy brown. I would highlight my hair and then within a few weeks it was brown. I finally went to a color specialty salon and they told me it was most likely my water. I told them I bought an expensive water filter for my shower. It was then that I realized these filters have copper in them. If you google copper and hair color you will see it ruins hair color; mostly blonde highlights. These aquasana filters are now made with copper. If you color your hair this is not a good filter for your hair. I have since bought some product to strip the copper and other minerals out of my hair and am switching to a shower filter with no copper. My blonde is staying blonde now. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Have used for a couple years to help with hard water *by A***Y on October 10, 2016* I bought this filter because it had great ratings and I wanted something that did more then just filter chlorine out. I am crazy about researching things before I purchase them. I really liked the multiple filter steps that this product has. My problem is hard water and the mineral buildup that ends up on my hair. This in combination with special shampoo and conditioner has helped me so much. When you first put it on and run water through it, it comes out black at first due to the carbon. It is supposed to do that and they say you can collect it and put it in your garden as it is good for it. After less than a minute of running it it will be clear. I also purchased this with the adjustable shower head which has different spray options if you like more or less pressure. My only drawback is the size of the filter. Its not huge but it does make it so I cannot adjust the angle of the shower head to be right over me so i have to stand a little further out. But it's not that much of a big deal to me. ### ⭐⭐⭐ Great filter but difficult to replace filter for me. *by D***W on January 3, 2017* Ive had this filter on my shower for several years. The filter removes the chlorine in the water and leaves my hair soft and healthy. It helps maintain the color since my hair is colored treated.The problem is that it is very difficult to unscrew the filter from the shower head. Since it is a filter, the connection needs to be secure. When it is time to change the filter, I need to use a large pipe wrench to unscrew the filter from the head. This is difficult for me since I have arthritic hands and my husband has to do it. Once it's on,I love it.
