To this end I have never had need to use the sd slot and it’s functionality. I also never read a manual, but find working it out a better solution. Sorry I’m not able to help. **Q: I use an ‘under pillow’ speaker at night - will this work or do I need to use the head phones with internal aerial?** A: There is no internal aerial, the wire from the headphone jackplug is the aerial. Assuming your plan is to use a connecting wire from the headphone socket to the pillow speaker, then it should work. I use a standard 3mm jack plug to 3mm jack plug lead to connect this radio to an external speaker and it works fine.
