Sometimes I just give them a flake as a treat but mostly I crunch them up sometimes to small flakes or almost a powder and sprinkle it on topic their food. They like just a little on top of food **Q: Is bonito flakes the only ingredient, or does it have salt as well?** A: I contacted the company about if there was added Taurine and Sodium. This is what they wrote: Taurine comes naturally in the Bonito Flakes. According to our testing results there is 55mg of Sodium per ounce. We do not add any Sodium, it is what occurs naturally in the fish." I actually bought then looked at the Sodium content of the Sodium in the humane grade Bonita Flakes that you can also buy on Amazon, there's is 15mg per ounce. These flakes come in a red bag with Chinese lettering and are sold at half the price of these flakes. But, my cats prefer these Cat-Man-Doo flakes! So I buy a bag of each and mix it, they eat it all that way. Hope this helped. **Q: Have any of you ever mixed the flakes into wet food, to entice a low-appetite cat to eat? Does mixing work better/worse than sprinkling on top?** A: I mix it in with one of my cat's wet food when she's being finicky (usually when she has a hairball), and it does entice her to finish eating. Otherwise, she tends to graze, but doesn't like it once the wet food has been sitting out for a while (plus, her sister is a piggy and will finish off the food before the finicky one can get a chance to come back to it). So occasionally I put fish flakes into her wet food (mix it in), and she devours all of it. **Q: Are the fish in this product wild caught or farmed?** A: I really don’t know. I have been buying them for many years, and every kitty that I have ever had has loved these treats. I always buy the big bag of bonito flakes which will last about a month in my home. I typically give my kitties a treat every night before I head off to bed. I'll give them a decent-sized pinch of the flakes right on the floor, and they'll gobble them up in a few minutes! Occasionally I will sprinkle a few crushed bonito flakes over my cats dry food, which makes a great treat that they love! The Catmandoo bonito flakes have always arrived very fresh, having a beautiful pinkish tone to them. Upon opening the bag one can smell the freshness of these flakes. Since the bonito flakes are dehydrated and pressed tightly together once one opens the bag they will discover that you get a huge amount of flakes in any bag. After you open the bag to give your kitty a treat, a decent sized pinch of flakes will do, I suggest that you reseal the bag so that the remaining flakes do not spoil. Yes, even though these are dehydrated, they still can spoil. While giving these to your kitty make sure that your cat has access to a big bowl of cool fresh water. While feeding your pet any dry food you should always make sure that your kitty cat has plenty of fresh, cool water. But with all of the various dehydrated treats that are available I would caution anyone to make sure that they do not overdo it by giving your pet too many dehydrated treats. Giving you cat too many of these dry treats without allowing them to have any water may cause your kitty to become constipated. If this happens consult your vet immediately!
