You have to have a shower arm that has a 1/2" pipe thread (Most common type) Unscrew the shower head or the old hose if that is what you have and screw on the new hose. The old hand held shower head should screw on to the other end The blue plugs on both ends have to be removed first and there should be a gasket inside. Make sure it doesn't fall out. You can use the teflon tape that is included on the threads to help seal them. May have to get some one to come out and help if you have a different setup. **Q: How do you go about cleaning inside the hose so that it will not get mold and etc?** A: I really can't answer that question well not easily. I do wash and rinse the outer metal regularly and I haven't had any issues with mildew. I use an all purose cleaner like Fabulouso and bleach. My bathroom is cleaned no less than 4 times per week. The only other way I can think to clean the inner hose is to detach it from both ends and some times with some finagling you can get the outer hose to slide down some on the inner hose. This way you could spray something between the outer and inner hose. I really wouldn't suggest that because you could damaged the crimp that holds the inner hose to the screw on connectors.
