I have been making them myself for over 50 years and they got it totally wrong. They may look like pizzelles, but they don’t taste like them and I purchased the anise flavor. They are overcooked making them taste burnt and bitter, they should be a pale yellow. As for the anise flavoring , where is it?? It almost tastes mostly like vanilla with a hint of anise when that should be the predominant flavor. My packages of cookies tasted fresh as there were 4 sealed packages of cookies in each container but there were so many broken cookies. Was this poor packaging, poor handling and delivery by Amazon?? It would seem to be a little bit of both. Would I pay this much for these cookies again? No way!! I have a grill, the recipe, and technique…. I needed these in a pinch and my guests knew they weren’t mine and were completely disappointed as was I.
