**Q: Does this help get rid of fungus gnats?**
A: No, it does not.  It is great to create a fluffy airy soil.  I used it for my avacado trees.

Instead sprinkle cinnamon powder on the dirt surface of the potted plant.  

Other options are fungus gnats sticky tape or 1/2 inch of sand as a top layer.  The sand dries quickly which in turn dries and kills their eggs.

**Q: how much does the bag weigh?**
A: Sorry I did not weigh it when I got it but according to the product info it weighs 5.1 lbs.

**Q: What’s the volume  cubic ft?**
A: 8 dry quarts equals .31 ft3 per bag

**Q: Will this work to prevent voles from eating the roots of my plants similar to voleblock or expanded shale??**
A: No.  This is like pearlite.   It aerated my clay soil so the trees roots do not fit.  I used it for my avacado trees.

I use this in my house plants. Although this is already in the substrate that I use, the size breaks it up and helps it to prevent rot. It makes it even more chunky. I have purchased this brand a few times and will continue as long as the size isn’t made smaller.
