The venturi I received has a flat check valve in the mixing cap. It seems to close and open but doesn't seem as secure as the Mazzei ball type system. I will update as soon as I install it and check the functionality. Update.... The ball and spring design has been changed to asmall flat check valve and it functions properly. The only downside to the item is the 3/4" threads. They are not tapered like standard NPT threads and difficult to seal. Needed to buy threaded barb adapters as well as washers to add to the end so that I can attach it to the 3/4" ozone hose on the spa.
