Fortunately, I had a new bumper installed at the shop recently due to someone rear-ending me, so I didn't have to deal with a bunch of corroded parts. Seems easy to remove and then install 10 bolts, right? Well, that would be true if your truck frame was square and your hitch frame was square too, which they aren't. But you can do it. It helps to have a friend twice for 5 minutes when you drop the bumper and then also when you reinstall it. I had two main problems on the reinstall:(1) Reinstalling the bumper bracket was tricky due to the tabs because of the extra thickness of the hitch frame. But I just clamped stuff down and hit it with a sledge to get the bracket into position.(2) Here's a tip I didn't see on any online videos. After the bumper brackets are installed and you are rehanging the bumper, you have to install some spacer plates on 2 bolts on each side. It is really hard to have your friend hold the bumper while you line up the bolt to the hitch holes, the bumper spacer plates and the bracket holes since nothing fits perfectly. Instead, just screw in one bolt on each side (driver/passenger) without the spacer plates to hold the bumper in position (preferably the rear ones) then let your friend go have a beer. Then tap the spacer plates into position on the second bolt and hand tighten it. Then remove the first bolts, put the spacers in, and reinstall the first bolts. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars You Get What You Pay For - Decent Hitch *by A***R on Reviewed in the United States πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ on February 7, 2019* Overall this is a good trailer hitch especially considering it was only about $100 when I bought it and was shipped to me in 2 days. The only things that I would mention is that mounting was mildly difficult due to imperfect construction of the product. I found that there were some places where the metal faces on the hitch did not mount completely flush with the bumper brackets or frame of the vehicle. While this was relatively minor and didn't affect the overall fit or function, it made the installation process somewhat frustrating. For example: They provide spacers which mount between the bumper and bumper brackets on both sides, but the spacers were a fraction larger than the gap created by newly mounted hitch. Since the spacers were just barely too large for the gap, I wasn't able to fit them into both sides, and had to use them only on one side of the bumper mounting bolts. No big deal, but now my bumper is shifted 1/8" to the right from what it originally was. Again this is really not an issue, I'm just saying its not perfect. It hasn't towed anything yet but I have complete confidence that it will do it's job just fine. This review is more about the fit and the installation.I installed it on my 1998 Toyota Tacoma pickup. This model was obviously designed for my truck and fit just fine. I spent probably about six hours or so on the installation but it's likely an hour and a half job for a competent mechanic with a helper to lift the bumper as it is removed, then the hitch itself, and finally reinstalling the bumper.The instructions, although brief, were accurate and helpful. All the bolts, nuts and washers were included. The biggest hassle I had was getting the four quarter-inch thick steel spacers to stay in place while I replaced the bumper. I ended up using hot melt glue to keep them stuck to the bumper brackets while I wrestled the bumper in position.
