It passes for our basement windows but had to drop down the rating because of the inconsistency of the lengths. Keeping the room darker, kept it cooler. The panel slide easily on the tension rod with the large rings at the top. The rod and curtain can easily be removed for storage. I settled on "grayish white" and it will serve temporarily until I can find a better color to coordinate, but it might be helpful to others to know that if your walls have a yellow hue, this color winds up looking like a very pale baby blue. That is not a bad thing if that coordinates with your room. Also, like another reviewer, the two panels that I received in the set are noticeably different lengths.
