I have unfortunately dropped my phone several times recently (on tile, concrete, etc.), and the case has effectively prevented any damage to the phone. Just some minor scuffs to the case itself. The soft parts are around the buttons and ports, just where it should be. I would say it's just right, not too bulky and not so thin that I'd worry about drops.
