Does it have a max temperature for hot brew?** A: They are intended to be put into an empty 5-gal paint can. The elastic holds them in place by synching the outside rim. Ones without elastic work the same way a trash liner does with the end being folded back around the outside rim to hold it loosely in place. Paint with skin or debris is then poured into the strainer which is lifted up so that the paint can drain before disposing with the dregs. The mesh is nylon. I can't say whether or not they would be safe for food use. Paint would only be poured cold. **Q: Will they fit over the oblong 5 gal buckets?** A: As I answer before, the elastic top measures 17 inches when stretched open. Take a cloth tape measure and measure around the top oblong area of the pail. If it is less than 17 inches it should fit. **Q: Will this fit over a square 5 gallon bucket?** A: Yup no problemo.
