These clippers are amazing. I wasn’t sure about the ratcheting feature at first but now I wouldn’t have any other kind. Another feature is the open hole in the handle to hook onto a coiled lanyard for trail riding. I attach these to my saddle and trim and cut back overgrown trails. Great tool. Won’t ride without it.

I have ordered three of these mostly because the ratcheting aspect of the pruners works easily (my wife loves them). They are easier to use than any other pruner and I have used many different brands. Why have I ordered three ? They don't last long before something will go wrong with them making them inoperable. Mostly the spring snaps in two or the pin holding the ratchet will fall out in can't be found. Even if you find the pin you have to go to the hardware store and try to find the tiny compression nut that holds it all together. I am giving up the battle as I have found a less effective but more durable brand of pruners.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nice Design But a Bit Flimsy

I recently lost a two decade old anvil-style hand shear that I loved a lot over a fence into some thick brush. After a month (which included some bad weather), I did manage to recover it but I decided that I wanted a spare on hand so I bought these. It's interesting to see how the state of the art has changed over the decades. My old shears are built like a tank: heavy, sturdy. Thick metal grips with a contoured plastic coating. Not one bit of rust on it after a month in the elements thanks to shiny plating. Still cuts as well as the day I bought it. This new shear is made of lighter, stamped metal. No rust-resistant plating to be found here. The lower hand grip is very nice but it opens too wide when at rest to easily re-grip it. Both grips are much harder to use if you're wearing gloves and gloves are certainly required if you’re working around thick brush that may contain biting insects and poisonous plants. However, the knuckle guard allows me to use a safety strap that wraps around my wrist so that if I lose my grip these won’t go sailing off into the brush like the older one did! I like this shear well enough, but it is interesting to see how sturdiness has been sacrificed over the years and replaced with new "features". I wish manufacturers would understand that people like me would gladly pay more to get both new features AND keep the old sturdiness. But no, planned obsolescence is a young marketing executive's wet dream these days.
