It’s heavy, but a sturdy heavy not a bulky heavy. The chain is a basic link chain which in my opinion takes away from the beauty of the locket itself. It’s sturdy enough just not pretty enough. I gave them as gifts, but if I was keeping for myself I would but a rope or snake chain of a heavy weight. I don’t like that it doesn’t open to a 90 degree opening because it’s difficult to add oils unless you take the pad out.
