You can choose to keep the patina or regularly polish it out with vinegar, salt or lemon and buffing with a little natural beeswax on the outside to keep that copper gleaming. This came with very good instructions on how to safely clean it and how to treat the natural staining if you want to and how to polish it out. They also included a method I had never tried before to keep the copper gleaming. Also, to keep the lid from becoming more difficult to thread or seal over time, rub a tiny amount of coconut, almond or avocado oil on the lid threads after each cleaning to keep it locking and unscrewing without it sticking or leaking for years to come. I had been trying low dose copper supplements for a while for my health but hated the nausea it always caused me.
