Removed it easily with 80 grit sand paper, then 200 grit before applying 3 coats of Helmsman Spar Urethane (has UV protection) ($17+brush$12). Does not come with enough washers to properly attach fasteners (only enough to put one washer under each bolted joint, should put one on each side of the wood). Wind will easily spin the hammock around and then damage your finish you just spent hours working on, so remove the hammock when not in use. After a handful of uses one of the cheap carabiners bent and will no longer latch. Bought 4 new proper load bearing carabiners ($30). Hammock is very easy to fall out of, even more so with 2 people in it as it doesn't cradle you. Will probably buy another hammock that is more stable (~$50). Not sure its worth the money given how much time and effort I've invested in it. But it does look phenomenal after all that effort. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good Quality for the Price *by G***3 on Reviewed in the United States on June 2, 2022* I think this is a great hammock for the price. The wood is very solid. The only negative and something others have mentioned is the finish on the wood is very thin and probably wouldn't hold up with constant exposure to the weather. To address that I added 3 coats of an exterior high gloss clear finish and it looks great. The only other thing I would mention is that although I was able to assemble it myself another person assisting would have made it easier especially when trying to line up the screw holes. Some have mentioned they needed to purchase additional hardware since not enough was included. That was not the case in my situation. In fact, a few extra washers and nuts were included. The only thing that would have made this purchase better was if a pillow was included in addition to the hammock itself. It comes coated lightly however if you have some extra time and help, You can apply an extra coat of urethane. Here in New England where the summers are short, I can always apply it even after the summer season. Overall good product however, you can put this together by oneself if you have the ability to do so, if not another hand won’t hurt. 11/16 standard hardware. If you are looking for a hammock support that looks expensive but is very much affordable , this one will do the job.
