Designed to last for everyday use, the sliding glass door handle set features a diecast construction with a black finish. This item includes installation instructions and all the fasteners necessary for the installation of this handle set, including the 2-11/16 inch keeper that mounts on the jamb. Review: It Did The Trick! - I live in a high rise condo on Miami Beach. So the salt air is hard on just about everything. It was time to replace the hardware on my sliding balcony door. The condo is about 35 years old and it was obvious the door pull/latch had previously been replaced/repaired. The local sliding door company wanted almost 250 bucks to replace the latch. Found this latch on desertcart and all the measurements/pictures matched up with what currently was on the door. With a few exceptions, this went right on. I had to do a little grinding with the Dremel tool since the previous person who serviced the door boogered up some of the fitting surfaces. The kit comes with two sets of mounting bolts (short and long). My door needed medium. So I had to trim the long bolts with the Dremel tool. After these few little alterations and the latch fit like a glove. The latch mechanism was tight and worked smoothly. Well worth the price. No complaints. It comes with a keyed outside locking mechanism but I didn't need it (30th floor balcony), so I can't comment on that piece.

**Q: how do you make it fit a 1" thick door?**
A: It is the length of screw. You would need machine screw #8-32x 1 1/4".

**Q: Will the key unlock the door with the on/off switch in any position? Or does the switch disable the key access?**
A: yes. the only thing is once the key is done engaging the latch, you have to return key to the "neutral" position to get it out.

The spring giving the brass peice tension which locks into the cylinder will pop out and if so good luck finding it. If you do go to your nearest store and play lotto.
