It is much less costly, but it falls apart in a little more than one season.this unit is aluminum and will likely last at least 10 years. I can see replacing the burner after many years like in any grill, but the structure of this unit is sound and I fully expect it to last. Overall we are very happy with this unit. We have it in an area that is often windy, so we also bought the glass wind screen by the same manufacturer.
