Black SLEEVE F/ LAPTOP CASEFITS WIDESCREEN LAPTOP UP TO 14IN

Review: Great well-made laptop sleeve that fits a Lenovo Y410P 14-inch laptop; the Case Logic LAPS-114 sleeve is too small for the Y410P - இ Fuzzy Wuzzy's Summary: ѾѾѾѾѾ Highly recommended with warm fuzzies! I bought this for my Lenovo Y410P. The Y410P is slightly chunkier and thicker than many 14-inch laptops, but it fits inside this Case Logic PLS-14 sleeve with a little room to spare. I also considered getting the Case Logic LAPS-114 14-Inch Laptop Sleeve (Black) , but it is smaller and cannot fit the Y410P. Sleeve information for both the PLS-14 and LAPS-114 14-inch sleeves: Lenovo Y410P 14-inch laptop: 13.77"x9.64"x1.29" Case Logic PLS-14: 14.5"x11.25"x1.75" fits a laptop up to 13.5"x10.1"x1.5". Neoprene exterior with suede interior lining. 0.9 pounds. Case Logic LAPS-114: 14.5"x10.5"x1.7" fits a laptop up to 13.5"x9.7"x1.7". EVA foam. 0.42 pounds. Even though both the PLS-14 and LAPS-114 are sized to fit a 13.5"-wide laptop and the Y410P is 13.77" wide, it still easily fits inside the PLS-14 without straining the zipper. However, the 9.64"-depth of my laptop is about a quarter-inch too deep to fit inside the LAPS-114 sleeve. So if you also have a Y410P, this PLS-14 sleeve is the one to get. When I slide the Y410P inside this PLS-14 sleeve and zip it up, about a quarter-inch of space remains along the front and back edge of the laptop. Because the sleeve has rounded corners, my laptop cannot be fully inserted into the rear edge of the sleeve; if it did, there would be a half-inch of empty space along the front zipper edge of the sleeve. So this sleeve does not *perfectly* fit the Y410P, but I would rather have a sleeve that is slightly too large than one that was slightly too small. And perhaps having this extra quarter-inch of space along the front and back edge of the laptop provides for an extra bumper cushion compared to if the laptop's front and back edge were firmly pressed right up against the edges of the sleeve. I always insert laptops into sleeves like these with their rear edge going inside first. Many laptops, including the Y410P, are thicker in the rear where the battery is and thinner along the front edge of the laptop, so it is a little easier to zip up the sleeves when the tapered front edge of the laptop is facing the zipper opening. There are supposedly also blue and gray colors of this PLS-14 sleeve too, but at the time of this review's writing, it seems that only the black color is available, both on desertcart and other online sites. The smaller LAPS-114 is available in five perky colors. This sleeve is advertised as using "asymmetrical" zippers. Asymmetrical zippers were first used on wet suits to keep a tighter seal and let less water in. The exterior of the sleeve is made of neoprene, which is also the material that is used on wet suits, and the interior is lined with a soft suede material. This is not a totally waterproof sleeve since rain and water can soak through the zipper fabric, but if you need to quickly walk across a parking lot during a rainstorm, it will provide enough protection from the water as long as you then take the laptop out and let the sleeve air-dry afterwards. The overall build quality, stitching, seams, and interior lining are high quality. Most laptop sleeves do not give you any storage pockets for carrying accessories, but this sleeve also includes an outer zippered pocket where you can carry accessories such as an external hard disk, small AC adapter, iPhone/iPod, ear bud headphones, cables, etc. Inside the outer pocket is a useful dedicated pocket for holding a USB thumb drive. I would suggest not putting anything too bulky inside this outer pocket since that could exert pressure against the side of your laptop. I sometimes carry my Y410P inside a camera/laptop backpack, and for extra protection, I store the laptop inside this sleeve and then put this sleeve inside the backpack's laptop slot. The padding on this sleeve is typical compared to most laptop sleeves - it will only protect against minor bumps and knocks, but there is not sufficient padding to cushion against dropping the laptop onto a floor or sidewalk. Laptop sleeves are not really meant to be carried frequently by themselves through airports, outdoors, or carried loosely in your hand while you walk around. If you really want good padded protection and room for carrying accessories, get a laptop case instead of a sleeve. For the same reason, shoulder straps and handles are very rare on most laptop sleeve designs; the assumption is that you are mainly carrying the sleeve inside another briefcase, bag, backpack, or luggage. Overall, this is a great sleeve. My one minor quibble is that I wish it had as many color options as the smaller Case Logic LAPS-114 sleeve.
Review: Perfect Protection for my MacBook Pro 13" - I bought this sleeve and the Built brand sleeve to compare for use on my new MacBook Pro 13". This is my review of just "trying them out," not long term usage. I wanted to love the Built (I hate to admit because of it's looks and brand), but it was just a little too tight. Here are some differences: Interior: Caselogic has a liner that is like a fabric faux suede vs Built is just the neoprene with no lining Zipper: They both use plastic teeth zippers. Caselogic has the standard teeth size (think of a zipper on the back of a dress or small purse) vs Built has the extra large teeth (think sleeping bags). Because the Built was so tight, I was afraid of the zipper scratching up my laptop as it was going in or coming out. The Caselogic zipper is across the top (widest part) and 90% down the side (which makes it easier to get in and out) vs the Built is just on the top (widest part). Pockets: Caselogic has a roomy zippered pocket with a small flash drive pocket inside. When my charger is in the pocket & it's zipped up, it's still easy to get my laptop out of the sleeve. The Built sleeve has 3 "slit" pockets of varying sizes. They are tight even without the computer in the sleeve (which is how things get held in since there's no full closure mechanism. The large pocket fit my charger with the cord looped and the loop secured in the top portion of the pocket (the opening of the pocket was in the top portion of the cord loop), the small would fit a flash drive well and the medium one might fit a mouse, but I don't use a separate mouse to be able to try it out. Since the pockets are so tight against the sleeve, it made it even more difficult to get my computer out when the sleeves were full. Looks: The Built wins. I bought both in black and well they're just black. (I didn't want to pay Built's premium pricing for a color and I wasn't too keen on the blue Caselogic). The Built does have the blue underside of the neoprene peek out of the pocket slits and they look kind of cool they way they are arranged. The Caselogic is just basic black with a dark gray zipper and gray Caselogic symbol on the front. Functionality: Caselogic hands down. I am able to get my computer in and out of the sleeve easily, it does it's job of protecting my investment & the pocket is perfect for the charger without affecting the functionality of the sleeve. I will be returning the Built promptly. It's a great sleeve, just not for my MacBook Pro 13".

## Questions & Answers

**Q: I have the new Macbook Air (2013) with a speck hard case covering my laptop. Will my Air fit the 13-inch case logic neoprene sleeve?**
A: I got this for my husband for his 13 inch MacBook Air and it fits great. He said it is just a little roomy because it is so thin.

**Q: asus t100**
A: Yes. the 7-10 inch case will fit the asus t100. It is a tight fit at first but less so after a few uses.

**Q: Would this fit a macbook pro with retina that has a speck case on it?**
A: I use this case for my macbook air only. I do have a mac book pro which measures about 14.25" x 10" and it does not fit in the case. hope this helps!

**Q: is it water and shock resistant.?**
A: Just by looking I would say NO to water and minimal shock resistance. You might want to look at a beefier one. My 2 cents.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Little Case
*by J***O on July 8, 2010*

This case is exactly just that: A great little case. I bought the ASUS Eee PC Seashell 1001P-PU17-BK 10.1-Inch Black Netbook (Up to 11 Hours of Battery Life) and needed something to protect it, not just throw it my pack and hope it doesn't get scratched. I purchased this case due to all the high marks it received and very low price. As soon as I received it, I opened the case up and took a great big whiff. And not to my surprise, it spelled like nothing. There was no neoprene smell as other people have mentioned. When I placed my 1001P inside, I noticed it was a very snug fit, which is perfect. It zipped up nicely without a hassle. When I felt around the case, there was no extra room inside. The case itself is fairly soft, you can be sure it will not scratch your netbook. There is a front pocket on the outside of the case, accessible by another zipper. It too is very nice, but very small: I can barely get by with putting my charger inside, and when I do, it makes the case appear very bulky. I usually don't put anything in there. There is also a pouch for your flash drive within the external zippered compartment, this is very useful, I like it. I have nothing negative to say about this case, however I do wish that there was a yellow colour scheme for it. I simply prefer bright colours.
