It may be out of date (I don't know) but it was great to be able to replace an aging part with OEM equipment so many years after its introduction. I've put about 50,000 miles on the bike and been through 4 or 5 Shimano 9 speed chains. When I replaced the chain I used a Shimano to match some of the other components on my bike, and the ride became so much more smoother. Different people have different experiences and opinions about bike chains. But for me this one has been smooth and reliable.
