It only occurs in states of severe sickness like burn victims, sepsis , diabetic acidosis. and other fatal illnesses. nowhere in the literature is supplementation of phosphorous a treatment for hypophosphatemia - the treatment is fix underlying illness. however the drs do not find mine I am just pychsomatic according to them - even though i have peripheral neuropathy of unknown etiology , endocrine tumors whicht they wont operate. and multi-tude of other health complaints. anyway.. you should never have low phosphate. it occurs in 2% of hospital inpatients but 85% of ICU patients.. you see what i mean? and they think i am not sick? never the less this supplement increased my level from near fatal of 1.1 -1.5 to 2.1-2.3 still lower than normal but close to the bottom range - I guess it will keep me alive another day.. Also, for others who have this condition.. They say they can now related low phosphorous to mortality and it can be used as an independent predictor of mortality in all cases and all illness. Duh.. - 85% of ICU .. you are sick , deathly sick if you are low in phosphorous - look at the diseases that are known to cause it. so anyway.. anything below 1.1 is grounds for admission and treatement with slow IV infusion - as it is fatal without treatment. .. good luck folks.. Id love to hear others feed back and why they take this.. because this is not your everyday supplement and its not easy to find anywhere - I think this is the only company producing and selling it.
