The lids do seal well, so don't think they'd leak, even with bottle lying down. Glass seems to be decent thickness and quality, and these were some of best priced glass bottles with normal lids I found, at Β£7 per litre capacity. They arrive in a box wrapped securely in cardboard. Bottles are 18 cm tall with lid, diameter at bottom is 6.5 cm, overall diameter about 7 cm. Opening/neck is 18 mm inside diameter, easily wide enough for a normal size funnel, and the neck is 2 cm tall. Lids are 3 cm outside diameter and 1 cm high. These would be suitable for anything you can put in glass bottles: cosmetics, essential oils etc. While more expensive than plastic, you can rest assured that you're not getting plasticides leaching into the contents and brown is best colour to exclude light (better than blue or other colours, I've read). Silver needs to be stored in dark bottles and these aren't quite as dark as others I've used but fine stored in a cupboard away from light. The caps could be deeper. I did an experiment by placing, upside down filled with water, one of these bottles and one of my old ones with a deeper cap and after 30 minutes the old one was completely dry but the new one had ring of moisture round the edge of the cap. But who stores their bottles upside down anyway? Can they be put in the oven or boiling water?** A: Glass itself is quite a sturdy material UNLESS it has been rolled out very thin for fancy decorative purposes such as flowers, animals, etc. IMO, they are UNSUITABLE FOR FOOD USE! Thicker varieties as here, are usually quite strong unless they have an integral weakness such as bubbles within the glass itself, which can act like perforations in a stamp! Previous damage or droppage can also do this. But the real weakness here is the lids. I purchased 2x 500ml amber glass with plasic lids, which were sturdy, but their waxed-card lid-linings started to disintegrate FIRST TIME OUT! As mine are for FOOD use (alkaline mineral-water drink) I take NO chances so threw them out after first use! Throwing money down the drain! IMO, UNSUITABLE FOR FOOD USE! **Q: Are these bottles good quality?
