## Description

The CAT CJ3000 Professional Jump Starter offers 2000 peak amps and 1000 instant amps, which provides enough power to quickly start most 12V vehicles, including trucks and SUVs, without the need of another vehicle. Equipped with a heavy-duty AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) internal battery which delivers superior performance, even in extreme heat and cold weather environments. The CAT CJ3000 Professional Jump Starter has industrial-grade metal clamps which are powder-coated and spark-proof. Review: The lights worked but have not tried the outlet which is like a cigarette lighter outlet - Got it in two days in new condition. Charged it about 19 hours and then jump started my Honda CRV - 2011 which had a battery that could not even open the door locks, 80% dead I guess. Turning key did NOTHING. It was dead. After hooking up the CAT and turning the red button to the jump start position, I turned the key once and held it for about 3 or 4 cranks (2 seconds?) and it started right up solidly!! Just follow the directions exactly as the manual states. I'll have to see how well it holds the charge. I am recharging it for 24 hours since it was used to start a car. It's heavy duty and straight-forward. Does not charge the battery - just jump starts the car. Your alternator has to recharge the battery so leave your car on or drive for 15 to 20 minutes. The lights worked but have not tried the outlet which is like a cigarette lighter outlet. You need an extension cord type of electric cord to charge the unit and it is not included.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can you leave it connected to an AC outlet for charging after the internal battery has been fully recharged, or will this damage battery ?**
A: Usually a manual will say "Don't charge for over 24 hours" as a hint of the charger not being regulated.  I don't see that in the manual making me think it's not a problem, yet I also don't see anything like "Can be left plugged in 24/7" to prove it is regulated.  They say "charge until you see green LED on solid or flashing" where flashing may be when it is sending power but is pretty "full" while solid may be when it's "full" and power flow is blocked by the regulator.  That's my best guess based on what I see in the manual.  An easy test to do would be connect up a volt meter and watch it as it charges.  You may likely see that while the green LED is solid the voltage slowly drops from ~14.5 to ~13V, when it flashes it goes back up from 13-14.5 and as long as you never see anything 15V+ you know it is regulated.

**Q: Can it jump a v-6 nissan maxima 2001 ?**
A: Yes it has plenty of power to do so.  There may be other reasons the vehicle won't start but not because there is not enough power to the battery.  I have had batteries get a dead short inside and they won't jump off but that is fairly rare.

**Q: How many cold cranking amps does it put out?**
A: They don't go by CCA on these, rather another test another OEM calls "Cranking assist amps".  Here's the details of each from copy/paste as the OEM described:

CCA (Cold cranking amps) = The discharge load measured in amps that a new fully charged battery can deliver at 0 degrees F for 30 seconds and maintain a terminal voltage greater than 7.2 VDC.

CAA (Crank assist amps) = The discharge load measured in amps that a new fully charged battery can deliver at 70 degrees F for 5 seconds and maintain a terminal voltage greater than 7.2 VDC.

Ever since I got a similar pack I knew something was weird with a label of "500 crank amps" on a 15 pound battery versus a car battery that weighs 50 pounds having "500 CCA".  Those test details explain the difference with the time the test lasts being 5 seconds versus 30 seconds (as well as temps).  So when you see those big numbers on these (like "2000 peak amps"), realize they must be for a very minimal time (which I call just a sales pitch that has no meaning).  Further evidence comes thru in manual statements like "Never crank a car engine for even 5 seconds or you'll damage our (tiny) pack battery" to show how long it can handle such.  Hope that shows you the truth about what these packs can do (where they may get many started, but they're not a "2000 amp power source").

**Q: I have one of these and have a question before I blow my cell phone out--can I use my car cell phone charger to charge my cell phone?**
A: the cig lighter plug is 12V.  It will only pull whatever you plug in.  DC not AC current.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Holds a charge. Been very reliable. Old school build

Strong durable powerful. This will start anything. Heavy gauge cables and a durable serviceable Jump Box. Was an amazing go-to for over a year. Until... It got wet. Not waterproof at all. Left in the back of my truck during rainy day while I went out to service vehicles in need. Couldn't properly charge it after that. Sometimes later it was stolen anyway. I recommend this jump box. It doesn't have all that safety garb the other ones have. I don’t know why it has a 4 Star rating. I saw reviews about it not holding a charge. That’s weird because mine held a charge for months. I used it allot. It took a long time to kill it. So you must have gotten one with a defective battery. This Jump Box was very reliable. But as I said before, not waterproof! I’ll probably seal up the next one I get.
