Each cylinder has over 800,000 different key combinations! Many security features are packed into the cylinder, including: Anti-Bump - UAP euro cylinders have a unique & Patented anti-bump system which eliminates the need for trap pins. Bumping is where a burglar gets a ‘bump key’ which they insert into the lock and hit. This vibrates the pins & tricks the cylinder into opening with no sign of damage (so insurance companies do not pay out as they believe you left your house unlocked). If a cylinder contains trap pins, it locks up the cylinder. If you are inside the house and trap pins have been activated, you will not be able to operate the cylinder! Sacrificial Cut - The cylinder lock has a sacrificial cut on each side, helping combat lock snapping. Lock snapping occurs on cylinders which protrude more than 2mm from the outside handle. When force is applied, the cylinder will snap at the weakest point–the screw hole. It’s then easy to manipulate the cylinder into opening. When force is applied to the UAP cylinder, it will break away to the sacrificial cut line only, leaving the remaining cylinder operational with your key!
