For days whatever kind of bird it is (I believe it might be some kind of swallow, although we do have lots of robins in the area, so I can't rule those out) would attempt to make a nest atop our light fixture. The spot the bird was attempting to build in was not conducive to nest building and there would be straw, twigs, etc littering my entire porch. I would daily knock the beginnings of the nest down and sweep the porch. From whatever time I would sweep until night time, the birds would stay away. Every morning though when I would get up and get my kids to school, the nest evidence would be back though.I started researching how to discourage them from building anymore. I read about the bird be gone gels (but didn't want to deal with the mess getting all over and didn't want to risk killing the birds), wasn't sure what size bird spikes would be correct. I couldn't figure out how to put an owl or a snake close enough to the light to scare the birds. So I decided on the scare tape. I had my husband hang a few strips off of the ceiling on our front porch (the front wall of the house is stone, so attaching to the front would have been difficult). It has been 5 days since we put the tape up and in that time the birds haven't tried to build anything! So for us it worked.I like that this product did deliver the desired results. No birds' nest on my front porch light. I am hoping it proves to be a long term solution. It is a little bit of an eyesore on the front of the house, but if it does prove to be good for the long haul, I might attempt to make some kind of florette/bow type thing out of the tape that would be a bit more appealing to the human eye. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Highly Effective *by 8***S on Reviewed in the United States on June 12, 2015* I had been having problems with birds nesting & perching on the high ledges around my home. Not so bad if they didn't leave their poop all over the place, in addition to causing an unsightly stain on the new paint. Once I installed the Scare Tape, the birds simply left. I like that this tape is wide because imo it seems to be more effective. The highly reflective surface & the slight sound it makes while fluttering in the breeze causes the birds to keep their distance. Now when I'm out in the yard, I can hear the birds squawking on the neighbors' roofs...probably complaining about the mean old man with the Scare Tape! Highly recommended. I also like the fact that the owner of the company personally emailed to follow up if I had encountered any problems or had any questions & to thank me for the purchase.Update 04/27/2016: Just have one negative comment: the tape doesn't seem to be very sturdy. I'm finding that I need to put up new tape quite frequently because it tears easily when the wind is strong, even when it's new. The other brand that I used previously fared much better.
