We were shocked at the quality of the real wood the board is made of and it appears to be a regulation board as well. Even the staining appears to be done well. The games pieces (pawns, rooks, knights,bishops, Queens and Kings ) are hand carved as well and you simply can't beat the price point for the quality you are getting. We love that the game pieces are magnetic and the board is truly aesthetically appealing as well. Give your kids this fun and very educational game to increase their problem solving skills.
