I had been on crutches before and knew how difficult it was to use them in sand. We even thought about cancelling our cruise, but then I saw these. I was reluctant to order these as they are pricey, with a less-than-ideal return policy. That being said, I took the plunge, ordered them and was so happy I did. I found it easy to swap them for my regular crutch tips when it was time to go to the beach. I was very impressed with their stability in the sand, ocean, on rocks and rough cobblestones. They are rather heavy, so I would use them only on beach excursions or where rocky/rough conditions were expected- I would not use them for every day use. Are these more stable on wet hard surfaces?** A: These are designed for greater stability on uneven and soft terrain (for which they work great!). But no, they are not specifically for wet surfaces. **Q: Will 4 work for my walker?** A: The sand pads will not fit onto the legs of most walkers because the diameter of the walker leg is too big., It is very easy to make an adapter out of an old webbed seat aluminum lawn chair, a hack saw, an electric drill, and four bolts. The legs of these old chairs will slide up inside the legs of the walker perfectly and will fit the sandpad perfectly. Simply drill a hole through walker leg at a detent pin hole and through the adapter leg and bolt it fast. Use a drill bit the same diameter as the hole for the detent pin and use bolt to fit the holes.
