A collection of 12 rare vintage dance posters, circa 1900-1938. Included are turn of the century posters from the Folies-Bergere as well as posters commemorating performances of the legendary Ballets Russe. The Ballets Russes was a ballet company established in 1909 by the Russian impresario Serge Diaghilev. It was instrumental in the development of modern dance. The CD-style jewel box (which looks like a music CD when it is closed) has been adapted to bend 'easel'"easel" in which the months (pages) are displayed. Each month just replace the previous month's calendarium. These desk calendars provide an decorative accent to any area where they are placed: desks, tables, shelves, tables, etc. They provide the function of a calendar without occupying too much space (4.75 x 5.5 inches when opened). Each month displays a beautifully reproduced Spanish vintage travel poster on an archival heavy 80# cover stock (216 gsm for those used to European paper weight designations) and can be individually framed once it has been used. These images are from the Ars Antigua collection of over 500,000 engravings and lithographs from the 16th to 20th century. Ars Antigua desk calendars have been available at leading museums and institutions including the National Gallery of Art (Washington, D.C.), Morgan Library (NY), Getty Center (Los Angeles), Frick Collection (NY), Los Angeles Philharmonic Store, Metropolitan Opera dance.
