**Q: When I opened the jar there is wood shavings on the lid and top of the jam.  What is it?**
A: Loretta— Never found any wood shavings in any of these jams I purchased. I can’t imagine how they got in there, but I would err on the side of caution and rerun the product, unless, of course, you are a risk take and want to see how flavored wood shavings taste on a toasted English muffin.

Ever since my husband and I went to Ireland last April, I have been looking for good Gooseberry Jam (I cannot find it in California to save my life, or anywhere in the States, for that matter). I decided to take a chance with this company, and it definitely paid off. It's definitely jam-like (as opposed to jelly) with actual berries in it. It is a bit pricey, but it was worth every penny. I will be buying more once we run out.

I will be purchasing it again!!! I like the fact that it's pure gooseberry and not a combination jam with other fruit mixed in. It's delicious and I enjoy it on rye or pumpernickel toast!!
