I know that Japan now manufactures products in China so I don't think that it is a problem that the band is made in China instead of Japan. Also, in the package are the "fat pins" that are larger in diameter to fit the band exactly but you can use your original pins if you want. The band is a little stiff but I know it will soften after wear. I'm not sure why it's called "curved line" unless it means the "waves" on the band. Looking closely at the band edgewise, it appears to be bonded two layers with a smoother layer on top and a stronger looking plastic on the bottom layer. This appears to be genuine design.
