But the rings that prevent the handles from splitting feels cheap. As if they could be a metallic shell over plastic core? Or a really chintzy metal? Not sure but it doesn't feel like it will work better than a few turns of bailing wire will in the long term. Though the handles themselves have plenty of grip space and a good shape that helps find edge alignment. They are maybe more top heavy than is ideal. But not unwieldy. The packaging is rather nice. They come in one of those crimped plastic sleeves with multiple slots and a flap. It rolls up and goes into a bag which fits into a decent reusable cardboard box. Each of the chisels come tipped with a removable edge protector. They came sharp out the box. Didn't even need deburring. I touched them up once and they took well the being honed. But the steel is definitely not as hard as more expensive chisels. So it sharpens easily but has lower edge retention. It's not the best version of what these could be if buying an antique set and/or paying a lot more. But it met my expectations for the price and I don't think one can reasonably expect anything better at this price point. If you're just looking for some learner tools or just have a singular job you need them for and can foresee using them again once or twice a year, then these are perfectly acceptable.
