The two sizes help create a random appearance. I have a 7 foot tree and feel the amount included was very tasteful. Any more, I think, would take away from the delicate balance of beautiful and gawdy. They don’t sparkle as much as they seem to absorb some of the light for a glow. You notice them, but it is a subtle acknowledgment and don’t recognize they are plastic. Their appearance gives me a Victorian vibe.
