They shed water and dirt. I had the chance of testing it out when I stepped out of the side by side and into a mud hole. As you can see, the water beads right off. Before, it would’ve soaked in and changed to a darker grey. A lot of reviews said the bottle was tiny, but I did a double coat on 6 pairs of sneakers, size 7 and still have at least a quarter bottle yet. It didn’t change the color of any of the shoes, and the smell doesn’t linger.
