The laptop motherboard wil output a series of fault codes in the process of working. The disgnostic card will receive these fault codes. The users can determine the fault of the motherboard through the fault codes. RST indicator is off, CLK indicator doesn't flash and the code of the diagnostic card is "00". It shows that the card does not receive the clock signal and can not work. Maybe the motherboard does not support the diagnostic card mini PCI-E interface. Please use the LPC interface or mini PCI interface for testing. RST indicator is off, CLK indicator flashes and the code of the diagnostic card is "00". It shows that the RST and clock signal is normal. Please check the Bus indicator. If the lower-right corner of the right digital tube is on, it shows that diagnostic card is in mini PCI-E or LPC bus state. If the lower-left corner of left is on, it shows that the diagnostic card is in mini PCI bus state. Usually, the motherboard has no slot corresponding with the interface. It is recommended that the user connects the diagnostic card to LPC interface BIOS through the flying line on the motherboard. Please don't insert the PCI-E to the PCI slot. - The Mini PCI bus has 124 pins, and the diagnostic card achieves the required functions by using 101 of these pins. When the diagnostic card is installed in the Mini PCI slot of the notebook, the length of the diagnostic card will be shorter than the length of the Mini PCI slot of the motherboard.
- Compared to the Mini PCI interface, the Mini PCI-E interface takes up less space. The diagnostic card uses the following pins of the Mini PCI-E interface: PIN-8, PIN-10, PIN-12, PIN-14, PIN-16, PIN-17, PIN-19.

A 2015 laptop that I wanted to run motherboard diagnostics on had a newer typr slot, which is smaller. So, this was no good to me as it was too wide for the slot. My fault maybe, because I should have researched the technical terms, so I got it wrong. DUH!
