Because the bag had been previously used (for how long, I do not know), it was slightly opaque from rough treatment. It still functioned flawlessly as a dry bag for the year or so that I used it. The bag finally developed a small leak at one of the many creased spots. When this set arrived, I was pleasantly surprised that the bags are actually very clear - there is a small amount of dark tint, however - when they don't have so many accumulated scratches on the surface.These bags are heavy duty, much stronger than a typical Ziplock bag. It's possible, I suppose, to get by for a little less money by using a Ziplock bag; but my experience with trying to keep liquids from leaking out of those types of resealable storage bags is that they don't last through more than one or two uses. Since the Loksak bags are so inexpensive anyway (the 8.5" x 11" version I bought were a little over $3 each), I'm not willing to risk a $500+ iPad to save $2.99.The bags will eventually wear out, obviously, so it's a good idea to check them every now and then to make sure they haven't developed any tiny holes in a seam or along a crease. It's also a good idea to roll them up when not in use or find a way of storing them flat so the bags don't develop any creases from being folded for an extended period of time.I only use these bags for keeping my iPad dry when it might be splashed above water, so I can't vouch for how well they perform for lengthy periods when submerged. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ OD Size *by S***L on Reviewed in the United States πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ on March 27, 2013* I bought these for a series of trail maps that are on standard 8.5"X11" thinking I would be able to cut off the margins and fit them in these cases. I was wrong. These are 8.37" X 11.37" OUTER DIAMETER. The other minor complaint is the printing on the back side of the bag. My maps have instructions on the back and the print from the bag is a bit distracting when your trying to read through it. Still they are a tough little bag and have put up with some substantial abuse. I haven't even gotten to the other two in the package yet. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very durable ziplock bags *by S***D on Reviewed in the United States πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ on July 7, 2014* Exactly as described. The bags are really like super ziplock bags. The top seal is just a ziplock exactly like the ones you would buy in a grocery store but more durable. The plastic itself is really thing and would be very hard to accidentally tear or puncture. The outside seems are all double bonded looks like byt UV rays or ultrasonic vibration so the seals are really strong. The bags also claim to be able to go 200feet underwater and remain water tight. I bought a pack of 3 the size of an ipad and I will be using them for my 21 day backpacking trip.
