Review: For the right job this is a well-made product at a good price - Our outdoor Christmas decorations this year are giving the Blackpool illuminations a run for their money! And with many lights come many cables, too many of which were serious trip hazards for anyone walking down the drive to our front door. So I wanted a cable mat that would tidy the mass of wires and keep them hugging the bricks of the driveway. I needed a total of about 8m of mat, and given it would be used for about a month, I didn’t want to spend a fortune. The way my cables run means we don’t drive over them, so I was happy to get a light duty product. The cover works perfectly for me. Heavy enough to lay flat to the drive, easy to cut to size (with a very sharp knife), and easy to load with the cable (although I’d recommend doing this as a two-person job for any run over a couple of meters to prevent the frustration of getting to the far end of the cover only to discover the cable has popped out at the beginning). Before you buy, bear in mind that this is a 6cm wide, black rubber mat that rises more than 1cm off the ground in the middle. If you run it across the middle of your white-carpeted lounge, it is going to be far from discreet. And if you run it in front of a door that hugs the floor, it’s going to get snagged. But for the right job this is a well-made product at a good price, and I’m really pleased with my purchase.

**Q: Is this water proof as want to cover up electric wire across patio**
A: Not waterproof.  There is a slit all along to bottom for inserting the cables.  However, it could be sealed with waterproof adhesive tape, but I can't see that being a permanent solution.  Also, the ends would be open (seal with silicone filler?).  It wouldn't be a problem if outdoor rated cables are used, as they wouldn't need any waterproofing.

**Q: Would this product be delivered rolled-up in shrink wrap packaging or Box?**
A: I think this was delivered rolled in a cardboard box but it soon straightened out and lies perfectly on a flat floor.

**Q: how does this fix to the floor**
A: This doesn't fix to the floor. Its own weight, added to the weight of the cable makes it lay pretty flat on the floor without any other assistance. I guess you could glue it in place, if you were happy that you didn't want to move it at a later stage. Does a pretty good job to be fair.

**Q: Can this be used on a woodblock floor without using adhesive?**
A: Yeah, I don't see any problems with using it on any floor. The cable sits inside the channel, and the weight of it will keep the cable from lifting off the ground. That said, if it's crossing a busy walkway, there is always the chance that someone will trip on it because it sticks up a few mm. You can't really get around the physics of the dimensions of the cable protector.
