Product description Strong Root Systems Start Here The Andersons New Lawn Starter 20-27-5 is specifically formulated to develop strong and healthy root systems. This formula contains three types of nitrogen - fast, intermediate and slow reacting to give quick response and then a steady feeding of nitrogen that promotes top growth of the grass and produces a deep green color. Sulfur helps maintain the dark green color and encourages more vigorous plant and root growth. This formula also includes phosphate, potash and iron. The phosphate is essential in the development of deep, strong roots. The potash thickens the wall structure of the grass and makes the grass more vigorous. Iron prevents yellowing by aiding the development of chlorophyll in the grass. Safe for Any Grass Type New Lawn Starter is safe for use on northern and southern turf types. **Q: It was recommended to use 21-22-4 with 0.08% mesotrione. i have half existing and half new lawn.  is this product 20-27-5 ok to use?**
A: It's always recommended to get a soil test but you should be fine. Just ensure you are feeding your existing lawn too much nitrogen.

**Q: Can I apply this product during early spring to kickstart an established lawn?**
A: I believe the purpose of this fertilizer is to help new seeds to germinate, take root, and grow whether completely reseeding or overseeding an existing lawn.   If no reseeding or overseeding  is performed,  many other good lawn fertilizers are available.  I have used milorganite.

**Q: Does this product need to be worked into the soil? or Can I just broadcast the fertilizer over the top of the soil before seeding?**
A: Just broadcast the fertilizer and water in.

**Q: The label says to apply before laying new sod; can this be spread over newly laid sod?**
A: I would think so. The benefit of applying before laying the sod would be to give the roots immediate access to the nutrients of the fertilizer.
I would not hesitate to spread this over new sod. Hope this helps.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The real deal

I don’t normally leave reviews but this stuff and a couple more products really got my yard to looking good again, I dethatched and overseeded with twin city seeds blue resilience and top dressed with peat moss early spring, I put a bag of Milorganite down day of, then a few days later I applied this starter fertilizer followed up a day or so later with Simple Grow Solutions root Hume, I normally use Milorganite but it has never gotten my yard to look this good by itself so it has to be this starter fertilizer, the pictures are what my lawn looked like towards the end of fall and currently now in spring.
