Not sure how software updates were going to fix the abysmal battery life (2-3 hours) but I generally have my laptop plugged in so that's not a big deal. I'm still holding out hope for updates to fix the spotty wi-fi.This is the most expensive thing I have ever bought so I have treated it very delicately. Despite my gentle treatment the rubber grips on the bottom are peeling off already and don't seem firmly held in place. I guess I'll just glue it together myself but I shouldn't have to do that with a three thousand dollar machine.What I can't accept is the constant overheating which makes it uncomfortable to hold on my lap and now today there's a coil whine which makes me feel like it's destroying itself internally. I've only been using it for 6 weeks and if this issue had presented itself two weeks ago I would've returned the device and been in the clear. Now I'm saddled with this worthless machine for the next several years because I've invested far too much money into it.The laptop is pretty powerful and the screen is great. I could've gotten a similarly powerful laptop for half the price and without these other issues though, it just wouldn't have looked as pretty.I need to finally learn my lesson this time. I had issues with my last XPS 15 but it wasn't as bad as this. I've only ever used Dell laptops (this is my 4th one) but now I feel like my loyalty has been betrayed. This is the last Dell laptop I'm ever going to buy.UPDATE AFTER DELL REPAIR: I got the device back from dell repair services and it now has a gap in the frame. So another round of back and forth while they swap out even more parts and turn my two month old laptop into a Frankenstein's monster.
