I bring the groats and water, some milk and salt...dates, brown sugar or tiny amount of maple syrup to a near boil then simmer on low from about 35-48 miniutes---it depends upon how chewy you like your groats. I love old fashioned oatmeal too and Irish oats but the full groats supercede the others!
