Coolaroo Butterfly Clips Butterfly clips are the fast and easy way to attach your shade fabric to a variety of fixtures. Perfect to attach shade cloth to chain link fencing and cables. Gripping teeth holds fabric tight to ensure a secure attachment. NOTE: These clips aren’t meant to work with Roller Shades, they’re meant to work with rolls of shade fabric to attach them to a pergola, gazebo, or deck.

Review: Awesome product - I don’t know what the reviews are talking about them being hard to install or that you need a pair of pliers. I installed 14 of them on a 23’ x12’ shade with my bare hands no problem. I did however use a pair of pliers to grip them together after they snapped in place with my fingers just in case but I don’t actually think it helped at all. Fingers were fine and really easy to install. They held up to a pretty decent wind storm already. Actually the bungee cords I used broke in the wind but these stayed perfectly in tact. The trick to installing them is to just make sure the fabric goes around the little nubs before you snap them. Use your fingers to get the nub side through the fabric before you snap them and you will love them. Well worth the money.

I don’t know what the reviews are talking about them being hard to install or that you need a pair of pliers. I installed 14 of them on a 23’ x12’ shade with my bare hands no problem. I did however use a pair of pliers to grip them together after they snapped in place with my fingers just in case but I don’t actually think it helped at all. Fingers were fine and really easy to install. They held up to a pretty decent wind storm already. Actually the bungee cords I used broke in the wind but these stayed perfectly in tact. The trick to installing them is to just make sure the fabric goes around the little nubs before you snap them. Use your fingers to get the nub side through the fabric before you snap them and you will love them. Well worth the money.

These work really well, but they can be a pain to use. They will not clamp on with more than a single fold of the coolaroo material, the teeth are not long enough, sharp enough, or stout enough to punch and hold. You will also need a good size pair of pliers to make them bite. Otherwise, they have held up very well. I used them to hang two large sheets under our pergola - and even through the terrible wind and rain we've had over the past month, there are no signs of loosening or tearing. I connected them to simple twist in brass hooks that fit right in the center hole, so I can take them up and down as necessary. Much better than stapling or using wires.
