They will often have natural orange/gold streaks going throughout them which gives an exceptionally handsome look. They look very impressive and will make a gorgeous handle for your knife. Due to the density of buffalo horn, the dye is only able to penetrate about 1mm deep into the material.Please note that any cut or sanded portions will turn a dull gray color. Just polish and buff these areas to return them to a beautiful, deep, glossy sheen.If thinning the scales is required, it is recommended that you sand the back-side of the scales (facing your blade's handle), to leave as much of the outside of the buffalo horn as untouched as possible.Sometimes the pieces may require sanding to become perfectly flat.
