It is a small backpack, and works well for carrying my water, 2 bottles fit comfortably in the side pockets. My cell phone rides well in the slant pocket, leaving the other two pockets free for snacks and first aid supplies, even a book or two. Only improvement I could make, would be double zipper on main and secondary pocket so you don't have to zip them all the way down to get out some larger items.
