It is sturdy and strong, and the coil part of it is of a medium size compared to other whisks of this style. I should know, as a European born and raised in Norway, cooking alongside my mother since I sat on her hip, and owner of several whisk of different brands in this same style. I simply find them superior to the standard, round bulb-type whisks, and cooking as much as I do, I need several. I'm also probably a little bit of a whisk hoarder, always telling myself I need one more.Quality wise, speaking of the specific whisk reviewed here, and compared to my other whisks, I am very, very happy! I had purchased a cheap version elsewhere years ago that wasn't quite as strong and would bend, which had me hesitate and worry about quality. But this one is very good and just as strong as the ones we had in Norway growing up. I also worried about the fact that the handle bends down so far, thinking it may cause splatters, but then pulling out my Norwegian one to compare and finding that it's about the same. And neither of them have caused splatters so far, and the handle part surprisingly usually doesn't even get down into the food I'm stirring unless it's a really big batter.I also wondered if the handle would be uncomfortable to use, but took a chance since most of my other whisks also have similar metal handles like this. And it's perfectly fine and comfortable to use. I also own one with a plastic handle that seems like it should be nicer to hold, but honestly, I never even think about whether it's comfortable or not. Usually whisking doesn't take long enough that it becomes an issue. During cooking and stirring, you usually get a break here and there anyway. So, yup, it's always been just fine and actually feels good in my hand.I realize that most Americans are not used to this type of whisk and may hesitate to buy one because of this. But growing up in Europe, this style was commonplace and there's a reason for it. Being that the coil part of it is small and lays flat on the bottom, it reaches into the sides of pots and bowls much better than the big, round whisks, and it also scrapes a larger area at a time on the bottom. So it stirs up what's on the bottom easily, preventing burning when cooking. My mother taught me to use a wrist motion while whisking, and this type of whisk can whip and mix fast, and really well.It works great for batter, scrambling eggs, gravy, cooking pudding, porridge / hot cereal etc., really anything that needs whipping or stirring to prevent lumps. This particular size does not work so well for scrambling just one or two eggs, since it's a bit large for that. But it would still do the job if the bowl is large enough for the whisk.One single issue with this style whisk, not brand specific but rather the way these are made, is that they do not work well in very thick batters or cookie dough after the flour is added. What tends to happen is that the coil will come undone and be partly pushed off the metal ring that holds it. It doesn't break and the coil stays a coil, it just comes lose and you put it back on again. But you'll get your fingers dirty and it may not be sanitary food wise, depending on what else you've been working on while stirring the food. In those cases I switch to a spoon or I begrudgingly use a round whisk if need be. Yes, I do have one.As the whisk-oholic that I am, I also tried a different style, somewhat similar but not the same: a beautiful whisk that looks so cute with its tiny coils in an oval shape, the coil in a pretty, upward-bent shape. But DON'T let the cuteness trick you, those whisks are awful and splatters badly! Stick to European awesomeness instead!There's another good whisk in this style on Amazon as well, with white or black plastic handle and a little bit larger than the one I'm reviewing, and I've been very happy with that one too. And there's a smaller whisk for smaller jobs, also great. I'll try to review these as well. I've been so happy to find good quality whisks in this style in the US! But if you consider the one I'm reviewing here, I'd say to go for it if quality is your concern and you're willing to venture out and try this style.
