While I see a variety of wild birds drinking and playing in my water feature and I do not see "dead" birds around, I can not say definitively that the product is safe. I have found Aquascape very helpful and does have the environment's interests in mind. **Q: What is the expiration date of this product?** A: Depends upon the lot #. Keep the product in a sealed container and it will be good for many years to come. **Q: How quickly does this product work?** A: Works in a day or 2. The algae doesn’t immediately disappear. It kills the algae, you will see it turn a less green color and then it gradually decomposes over time. **Q: What are the ingredients?** A: Hello, this product contains the same active ingredient as Algae-fix but at a 6% (vs 5% for Algae-fix).
