I grow dahlias each summer and they require staking to keep from falling over. I used to use a collection of random sticks, stakes, poles that I had collected in the garage over the years. Needless to say, my old stakes were a medley heights, colors, and materials and looked so sloppy. Now I've switched to these step-in-posts. They have a sturdy metal tip that I can easy sink into the soil with only my foot - no hammering required! Each stake has multiple catches, which I use to ensure my ties stay in place, without slipping down the plant, throughout the growing season.
