Since I don't listen much to my vinyl collection these days, I was happy to find this digital version to add to my mp3 and pc so I can listen again when I'm at my computer or away from home. Nilsson is just not like anybody else. His voice is so full of emotional variation and so smooth, he just pulls you into each song. The songs are all old standards, which I love, and the way they are orchestrated makes these wonderful melodies even better. I could go on and on, but suffice it to say this has been and will always be one of my favorite albums ever. It's one I never tire of hearing, and if you like music other than rock, hip hop or whatever the latest fad is, this is one you should hear. I don't think you will be disappointed. Harry knew that his voice would never be better than it was at the time this album was recorded due to his penchant for being ' ON ON ' if you require my driff ( Frank Zappa Thing Fish ). Harry sings 18 old standards (the first 12 are the best) with an orchestra behind him arranged by Frank Sinatra's arranger Gordon Jenkins, and produced by Derek Taylor. What lovely sounds! I first purchased this album in the fall of 1973 after reading about it in a 'Stereo Magazine' . This is a great album to add to any CD collection. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nostalgia or Wonderful Epitaph of a Genius *by E***R on April 1, 2014* It was like a member of Black Sabbath doing a collection of Yiddish folk songs. Nilsson has accomplished much in his earlier years, from a bank accountant supervisor, to a successful song writer, and performer. Nilsson had one personal flaw, he did what he wanted to without regards to its unintended consequences. Loving the music his long lost father, and loving mother surrounded him with, Harry set out to perform with the best arranger/conductor Gordon Jenkins, and to sing tunes he admired, with an unintended purity that only 40 years later, makes total sense. "As Time Goes By", "What'll I Do", or the laughable shtick of "Making Whoopee" shows a knowledge of these classics years before Rondstadt, or Stewart might even have guessed. The Bonus selections make this a sad, but beautiful tribute to songs that never die, and an epitaph to a genius who did not even know how to sing with a live orchestra and conductor, but pulled it off as every weird project he attempted did!
