It gets plenty hot just doing it's DVR thing, so to hopefully help it and the hard drive last a lot longer I cut a hole in the top and mounted an 80 mm fan blowing down onto the hard drive and the heat sink on the processor. My other DVR's have suffered heat death and I like this one a whole lot better so the 30 minutes it took to mount the fan was worth it. I also like that it does not *require* an internet connection to work or even a WiFi system.I really wanted something hard-wired and this is it. (I hate seeing "network error. I was unable to get this working and had to return. I tried all troubleshooting tips I could find on the internet as there are none available with the product. Seems I possibly needed to attach a low res tv or monitor to access settings to turn on the 1080p but I don't own any of those any longer. All I get is a black screen. I tried their mobile app as well to get into the settings but that was unsuccessful.
